Help us build the home for surfers.

Surfyx is a small, independent, founder-led team. We hire rarely and carefully — if you love the ocean and want to work on a real product for a real community, we'd love to hear from you.

Current openings

We are not actively hiring right now. Surfyx is run by a small, independent team and we only add roles when there is clear, immediate work that can't be done by the people already here.

That said, we're always open to meeting people we might want to work with in the future. If anything below resonates with you, please reach out via our contact page with a short note about who you are and what you want to work on.

What it's like to work here

Small team, real ownership

We're a handful of people. Everyone ships real product every week. There are no layers, no committees, and no "strategy decks" — only a shared bias for shipping and caring about the details.

Remote-first, outcome-oriented

We work from wherever we surf. We care about what you ship, not when you're online, as long as you communicate clearly and show up when it matters.

Quality over quantity

We prefer to ship one thing we're proud of than five things we're not. That applies to code, to design, to content, and to customer conversations.

Actually surf

Most of our team surfs. It's not a requirement — great product people can build for users they aren't — but it helps. The best ideas on Surfyx have come from people frustrated with their own surf experience.

How we hire

If a role opens up, here's how the process usually goes:

  1. Intro call — 30 minutes. We get to know each other and explain the work.
  2. Take-home or pairing session — a small, realistic piece of work that reflects what the day-to-day looks like. We pay for your time.
  3. Deep-dive conversation — 60–90 minutes with the founder and one or two team members. Technical, product, and culture.
  4. Reference calls + offer — we talk to 2–3 references you pick, then make a decision within a week.

No "whiteboard algorithms". No 10-stage interview loops. No ghosting — we will tell you if we're not moving forward, and why.

What we look for

  • Clear writers. Most of our work happens in writing. We care about how you think, and writing is how we see it.
  • Product instinct. You notice the details. You've felt the frustration of using a bad product and wanted to fix it.
  • Low ego, high bar. You're kind by default, direct when it matters, and you hold your work to a high standard without taking feedback personally.
  • Self-directed. You can take a vague problem, break it down, and ship something useful without a manager holding your hand.
  • Care about users. You read support tickets. You talk to customers. You're upset when something doesn't work the way it should.

Interested?

Even though we're not actively hiring, we always keep a short list of people we'd love to work with. Send us a note via the contact page with:

  • A short intro — who you are and what you care about.
  • Links to work you're proud of (code, writing, design, anything).
  • The kind of problem you'd love to work on at Surfyx, if you had the chance.

We read everything we receive. Please be patient with replies.
